Week 3 - Living Wholeheartedly

Uncertainty is a hard place to live, but it can be a sweet spot. Religion does a disservice when it seeks to remove uncertainty from life. The truth is, life is messy and no amount of doctrine or dogma changes this. As the spiritual teacher Anne Lamott reminds us: the opposite of faith is not doubt, but certainty.


I’ll bring the message, then our Guest Storyteller, Cathie Wilkerson, will join Noelle on the stage. Cathie didn’t start drinking alcoholically until the age of 49. Her addiction quickly led her to living out of her car and drinking everyday. Life was full of uncertainties. Cathie found sobriety two years ago. In her words: “When I’m in a place of uncertainty, it’s uncomfortable…I still don’t love it, but I have experienced enough in my recovery to know that something profound is on the other side of that uncertainty.”
